  • Guidelines for Submission of Resources
PTN is a state based association whose goal is to ensure high-quality professional learning for all teachers 24/7 in order to improve student learning.

PTN is currently sourcing resources developed by classroom practitioners. These resources will be made available to PTN members through the website.

PTN offers payment for resources created and developed by practicing teachers. Decisions regarding publication are made by the PTN Board of Management and independent expertise relevant to the focus area of the resource.

PTN reserves the right to reject poor quality or untimely material, whether solicited or otherwise, at any time during the assessing process.

    What we look for…
PTN is seeking resources that are helpful to practicing K-6 teachers. Teachers in primary schools across NSW who value professional development for classroom teachers are the target audience for these resources.

Resources purchased by PTN must include support materials accompanied by anecdotal information about the practical application of trialled, proven resources and the particular context within which they were used. The support material should also include reference to the author’s discoveries/findings and possible implications for practitioners.

PTN will not accept resources that are currently under development or have not been trialled.

Highest consideration will be given to work that is aligned with the NSW Institute of Teachers Professional Teaching Standards and can provide data demonstrating improvements in student learning.

Where methodology is essential for understanding, please include it as a footnote and not in the main text of the resource. Where possible authors should include a list of additional resources – books, articles, videos, web sites – to support the primary resource

    How to Submit Your Resource
PTN acknowledges in writing every resource application that is received.

The PTN BOM reviews each submission to determine its appropriateness for the Resource section of the website. Resources are either accepted as submitted, returned with recommended revisions, or declined.

Where possible, PTN requests submissions by e-mail and as attachments in Microsoft Word format.

If submitting a resource by mail, please send by registered mail to:

    The assessment process
The PTN assessment panel comprises: three primary teachers; one tertiary primary educator; PTC NSW Executive Officer.

The panel will assess the submitted resource for:

    Quality
    Need
    Implementation requirements
Compliance with NSWBOS syllabus documents and outcomes
    Originality
alignment with the NSW Institute of Teachers Professional Teaching Standards
    Effectiveness
    Appropriate/effective support materials
During the assessment process a panel member may contact the author to clarify certain aspects of the resource.

High quality resources are a priority for PTN. Therefore the resource may be subject to editing, including some rewriting and reorganizing. This is a normal part of the PTN assessment process to ensure high standards. The assessors’ goal is to provide the highest quality resource possible for the target audience.

Your help and understanding in this process is greatly appreciated.

Prior to the resource appearing on the PTN website the author will receive a final version to review, correct, and approve. Typically, the author will be asked to return the resource within a negotiated timeframe.

When the final version is received the author will receive a copyright form. A signed copyright form permits PTN to post the resource on the web site, and to use it for other electronic purposes.

    What about photographs/images?
PTN encourages authors to submit photographs essential to the resource. PTN prefer high-resolution JPGs.

All photographs require a completed consent form for each person appearing in a photograph. Where a person is a minor the consent form must be completed by that person’s legal guardian.

When a photograph has been accepted, please include a note with each photograph that:

    Identifies the individuals pictured;
Describes what they are doing and where; and
    Names the photographer.
NB: Authors are responsible for obtaining written permission for publication from the subjects of the photographs and/or the legal owner of the image.

If photographs have been published by a newspaper or magazine, authors are responsible for obtaining written permission for publication from the media outlet.
